Archlet named Future 5 Procurement software start-up of 2021 by Spend Matters

Spend Matters, the leading source for Procurement solution intelligence, declared Archlet a ‘Future 5’ Procurement software vendor for 2021. For the 8th year in a row, Spend Matters has released its annual “50 Procurement Providers to Know” and “50 Procurement Providers to Watch” lists — plus the 3rd annual “Future 5” list of noted start-ups. Each year, their technology analysts assess the capabilities for an array of companies across 10 procurement technology market sectors to determine the lists totaling 105 vendors in the industry. These represent the best-in-class companies you need to know about as well as the up-and-coming, growing firms to keep your eye on. The announcement took place at the SIG Executive Summit in Carlsbad, California, USA, yesterday.

The recognition as ‘Future 5’ Procurement software provider highlights Archlet’s innovative approach to democratizing advanced features like optimization in sourcing and making them accessible to a larger audience. Optimization and scenario-based analysis are usually only used in highly complex events and high spend categories like transportation, where it is used by extensively trained power users with a background in mathematics. Archlet is making these capabilities available to every Procurement manager in every sourcing event, independent of spend category or complexity and therefore unlocks new savings opportunities for organizations.

HV Capital invests $10M in Archlet’s Series A

Archlet has successfully closed a $10M Series A funding round that will fuel and accelerate our growth journey even further. This round would not have been possible without the incredible team at HV Capital and the support and sparring from our existing investors. Additionally, we look forward to welcoming our new business angel, Matthias Hilpert, who will assist with strategic advice and action planning.

While the pace at Archlet is higher than ever before, we have taken a moment to reflect on our crazy journey. Since we founded Archlet two years ago, we have been on an incredibly satisfying and humbling adventure with many ups and downs, and, as a team, we have learned something valuable from every one of them. In 2021, our customer base has grown like never before, our dreams, goals, and visions have followed. It is this entrepreneurial spirit that makes the A-Team so exceptional, and we are very proud to be part of this crew.

Every day, the team works hard to get us closer to our vision of seamlessly connecting buyers and suppliers in the global supply chains. And every day, our user experience becomes better and even more intuitive. We are already well on the way, but with our additional funding, we are another step closer to offering a powerful end-to-end sourcing experience that can be used by any buyer in any organization.

SAP.iO Foundry Paris Accelerates Agribusiness Startups in New Program

SAP launched an agribusiness-focused virtual startup accelerator program at SAP.iO Foundry Paris. The eight international startups have been selected by a jury of SAP experts, partners, customers and investment funds to join the program.

As France is one of the largest agricultural powers in the world, SAP.iO Foundry Paris was a natural location for the first accelerator program from SAP.iO entirely dedicated to this industry. The selected startups specialize in procurement, supply chain, production monitoring platforms and decision support tools.

“Digital technology and collaboration are key enablers to feed the rapidly growing world population in a sustainable way,” said Anja Strothkaemper, SAP vice president of Agribusiness and Commodity Management. “Working together with startups, we can combine our innovation power and serve the evolving needs of our agribusiness customers.”

The program addresses three key industry challenges:

  • Integrating data, artificial intelligence, analytics and decision-making into agribusiness
  • Combining compliance and traceability throughout production and processing
  • Ensuring agriculture is more responsible and environmentally sensitive

Over the next 10 weeks, the startups will have access to curated mentorship from SAP executives, exposure to SAP technology and application programming interfaces (APIs), and opportunities to collaborate with SAP customers around the world.

The following startups are participating in the SAP.iO Foundry Paris program:

  • Agrora enables processors and traders of agricultural commodities to save time on procurement and distribution processes.
  • Clarifruit offers an automated quality control platform for fast, objective and consistent fresh fruit and vegetable quality control.
  • Connecting Food uses blockchain technology and smart modules to provide transparency, traceability and digital auditing of food products.
  • GrainChain Inc. combines blockchain and Internet of Things–driven technologies to verify and auto-execute smart contracts, creating fully automated and digitalized workflows at every stage.
  • HeavyConnect develops easy-to-use mobile software that digitalizes paper-based compliance workflows in farming and processing.
  • Milk Moovement connects all players in the dairy supply chain, improving visibility and generating valuable insights across the raw milk supply chain.
  • ProcSea digitalizes seafood trading by connecting all partners on one digital platform for optimized and secured purchasing and sales processes.
  • Sencrop designs and sells connected weather forecast solutions farmers use to measure humidity, temperature, wind speed and rainfall.

Stockly lets e-commerce websites sell out-of-stock items from a shared inventory

Meet Stockly, a French startup that keeps the inventory of various e-commerce websites in sync. When you see an out-of-stock item on an e-commerce website, chances are you leave that website and try to find the same item on another site.

If you operate an e-commerce website, Stockly lets you sell items even when they’re currently out of stock. The startup automatically finds a third-party Stockly supplier with that specific item.

The order will go through and be sent by that supplier directly. Stockly tells its partners to use neutral packaging so that the end consumer isn’t confused.

This could be particularly useful for small-scale e-commerce companies that don’t have a healthy marketplace of third-party retailers. For instance, Amazon can already sell you an out-of-stock item if a supplier has listed that specific item on Amazon’s own marketplace. But that’s not the case for most e-commerce websites.

The main challenge for Stockly is that it has to sort through various catalog formats and match the different inventories of different retailers. It is focusing on clothing items at first. When an order is routed through Stockly, it selects a specific supplier based on different criteria, such as logistics, delivery time and historical data.

Or ce monde a vécu. La transparence, l’expérience client, la conception collective et la réciprocité, incarnées par le nouveau souffle venu des startups, sont devenues des piliers de tout acteur économique contemporain. En d’autres termes, c’est l’avènement des relations simples.
